And doesn't it depend on what the meaning of "is" is?
I'm not saying spun ideas won't take hold; I'm saying that preventing this is not necessarily the best
course, escpecially given a population that is already deluded (as I believe much of modern society
to be).
Sometimes, it is better to let matters get out of hand, so that cold, hard, painful reality forces people
to abandon their delusions. Some call that "hitting bottom", which should indicate to some my view
of "spin" as a "social drug", consumed collectively.
