I'm worried now - I'm planning on building a piece of software from bits and pieces from all over the place, and yes, it will be trying to resemble something that already exists, but I really hope that it won't be ugly or only partialy functional...

Well let's be fair, all my code is ugly. And partially functional. I wonder if that means it'll be okay? *grin*
