| That's the result of a defect in the tyre. If it happens at an otherwise safe speed on a public road, you very likely ARE dead, because there aren't sufficient energy-reducing devices between you and something solid to reduce the force of impact; mainly because this is VERY RARE. On a closed course, there probably ARE enough absorption devices; unless, that is, it's one of your insane ones with the concrete walls. A blowout is an infinitesimal probablity; if your suggestion of expecting it were followed, you'd never go above 30mph, which would not be sensible. The point I'm trying to make is that speed on its own does NOT kill; external factors (including defective tyres, other cars, road conditions and the landscape) are what cause speed to become dangerous. |
