| ...And dealing with the VA or the Army is a nightmare. I won't do it anymore. I pay my private insurance, and see my private physicians and basically let Uncle Sugar stuff himself. It took me almost two years to get benefits, even though I got out of the Army with a medical record the size of the New York phone book on physicians advice. The VA disregarded the bone-scans and MRI's in my records in favor of X-ray's they took themselves. Then, had the audacity to claim that there wasn't evidence of significant enough injury to merit disability. I had to go out and get MRI's on my own and go through a lengthy appeals process as well as involve my state senator, then they changed their tune. In a way, I screwed up because I let my enlistment run out rather than go through the prolonged nightmare of a medical board. Gotta love the way Uncle Sam takes care of the people who stand in harms way at his command. |
