At speed, the greater distance you need to react. Impediments to clear vision are potentially lethal when the driver is at high speed.

The likelihood of death due to trauma is far higher at 100 kmh than at 50 kmh. The likelihood of an accident due to road / traffic / weather conditions is far higher at 100 kmh, because of the limitations to reaction time.

Sorry to McGowan, but...
The argument "speed doesn't kill" is utterly false. You should not ever use it.
