See - the thing that bothers me the most about all this is how many pastors are using the pulpit to influence the vote. I know of one guy who is passing out flyers & donation envelopes with his weekly church bulletins. And this guy is from a church that is part of my (non-)denomination, which generally stays away from that kind of thing. Drives me up the wall. Here's the crunch. I'm not really in a position to question Bush's faith. Actually (and this is the h4 of it) I'd be willing to bet that the guy is sincere in his own mind. But hey, does anybody want to argue that people can be sincerely *wrong* too? (Tangentially, Molly Ivins has one of my favorite editorials ever written about this; I don't think I can link to it, but if you go to findarticles dot com and dig up the Nov-Dec 2003 issue of Mother Jones you should be able to find it.) Some people feel that way about all fundies. Some fundies feel that way about everyone else. Not just applicable to Christian fundies either. Take a nice mix of Islamic & Christian fundies, and mix in some wrong attitudes of the heart and guess what happens.
