the W3C standard only names 16 possible colours. All other colours are supposed to be hex numbers like #a0b1c3 (no, I don't know what that colour is). Anything else is supposed to be ignored. Opera and IE "guess" at what the colour is supposed to be by taking some of the characters from those bizarre names as hex values.
