In The Thing, an evil alien Monster Of Death (tm) eats people and turns into them. Thing is, if you only partly kill it then what's left is still alive and capable of some degree of shapeshifting. They burn someone who it is mimicing and his head falls off. It then grows spider-legs and scuttles off (prompting the quote that Mike just quoted a FYOSS version of)
