Anyone for a game of Go? by parastra 2006-11-19 12:55:59
Anyone keen for a game of Go against some fellow UFies?
Now you have the choice of playing either turn-based games or real-time games (or both, of course).

Play turn-based games of Go at the UFie Go Server or sign up for an account at the Kiseido Go Server, then visit the "GO UFies" room for a friendly real-time game (see here for all you need to know to get started).

Any problems or questions, you can email me at <mynick> at gmail dot com, and please include GO SERVER in the subject so I can spot your email easily.

Want to learn how to play?
This site is a great place to learn (Java required), or for those without Java, try this one.
KGS also has a Go tutorial here (Java required).

Once you've learnt the basics, head on over to one of the servers and play a few games (you can login to either using a guest account and have a look around first, if you like).

I've set up some unrated games on a 9x9 board in the waiting room at the UFie Go Server for new players who want to try playing a game.

On KGS, new players should check out the Beginner's Room where you can get your games reviewed by stronger players (for more info see here).

For information on Go playing software, have a look at this page for lots of links.

Note: I'm generally unavailable to answer queries/make moves/etc between 13:00-20:00 GMT...
