CAPPS makes an unwelcome return by wheresthefish 2006-11-19 12:55:59
El Reg.

Following adverse publicity and poor performance the system designed to check airline passenger names against suspected terrorist lists was cancelled earlier this year. Now the Transport Security Agency wishes to test yet another incarnation of this technology, and in order to do so they've demanded that airlines release to them all passenger name records for June. This can include details like your address, telephone number, credit card numbers, hotels you stayed at, who you stayed with and any comments by airline staff about you.

This new CAPPS-lite has addressed the concerns over privacy protection by taking all of your travel details away from the airlines and handing them over to the Department of Homeland Security. This agency then get the final say on whether you have the right to travel by air.
