honestly, I once read in a paper that the british invented cricket to promote gentleman-qualities in the players. And that they made the rules so complicated by purpose so that every "outsider" (i.e., no gentlemen) has to feel kind of out of place, dumb and unworthy to not understand such a wonderful game. I wonder what this says about traditional bavarian sports like Maßkrug-Stemmen (... holding up filled steins ...) and Fingerhakeln (.. like arm wrestling ... only just with crooked fingers ...)
