As for marriages, six of one, half a dozen of the other. Religious marriages are a subset of civil marriages. In a religious marriage, you enter into the civil marriage as well as the religious (with any attendant requirements).
So, I don't have a problem with calling them both 'marriage', or one a 'civil marriage'. The point is, it's just a word!
To be honest, I really think that if they could separate out male-homosexual marriages and female-homosexual marriages, that the female marriages would not be as much of a problem. Why? Because *males* are the ones (mostly, it seems) who rant and rave about gay marriage. I don't know about women, but I bet if you showed these guys a video showing two women having sex and a video showing two men having sex, they'd only really have a problem with *one* of the videos. |
