Update on Wild Fire near my home by nvparrothead 2006-11-19 12:55:59
(see here for original post) The fire was at 100 acres at 8:15 UFie time and is now over 1000 acres.

I just got back from the fire area, the fire has jumped the containment lines and is burning at the back fences of homes on the edge of Carson City. We watched one home on the hill be engulfed by the flames. The fire was started by a campfire in an area known for teenager parties.

2 firefighters were injured earlier today from falls and several more have been injured when the fire overran the lines. They lost 3 fire rigs also. They have evacuated 1000 homes and the college campus (WNCC) and have 2 evac centers set up.

The fire command has now pulled ALL hand crews away from the fire and they are only fighting it by the air. They just announced that the fire is completely out of control.

I will post more news and photos later this evening.
