So, the seller that I had the problem with, when I suggested to him, very nicely, that the 'right' thing for him to do is to refund my purchase price plus shipping, responded very tersely "Sorry <myname>. Postage is not refundable."
Of course, he ignored fully the fact that it was his mistake in the listing, that many other eBay sellers make it a point to refund shipping (and return shipping) when it is *their* error. Nope... not him.
So... I can return my software purchase to him and be out a total of $30US, or I can keep the software and be out $38US.
I'm thinking that I'll just keep the crap and phrase a non-slanderous yet contemptuous negative feedback for the lad :-)
A suggestion was made earlier about filing a fraud complaint... what would the effect of this be?
QUESTION
Long story short, I purchased FrameMaker4 for X/Motif. The seller indicated the software was never registered and all new. No registration card came with the package (he had received this with the purchase of a used system and I think he didn't realize it could not be registered in the 'state' that he sold it). He has offered to refund purchase price ($20.49). I have to eat the shipping ($18.00USD to me (he hosed me by $7.00) and $12.00USD back to him).
I'm in the mood to nail the guy somehow. I'm serious. He erred, and *I* end up paying for his mistake.
So, what can I do beyond negative feedback, if anything? |
