ATTN: Vancouver area adult learners by Celticess 2004-07-14 15:34:30
Did you go through the distance learning thing or how did you do your scholastic upgrades? I'm looking at the Greater Vancouver Distance Learning thing which can be done online. I need to upgrade: english 12, bi 12, and get math 12, chem 11, and phy 11... Now I can get funding to do those part time but then once done I can get the 2.5 yrs funding(yes they said they likely could go over the 2 yr limit with me as long as it was 3 or less years... but just told me that today) for full time so I can take my lab tech course(it's 2.5 yrs...) They will fund up to around $6,000 for 2 yrs course so I may end up having to get another $5000 in course fee's from HRDC.(I'm going through VRS Achieve)

Anyways I have a career councelling appt friday next week(23rd) and they are working on my plan/proposal. I've just emailed BCIT asking for some grad email addys or something so I can do informational interviews. The councellor did think this was a good choice considering the upgrade ability... and the fact that the start wage in as a med lab tech is $40,600/yr. Right now I live off of $12,000/yr(so it will make a big diffrence)

I've had to ask the school though about disabled services and about the standing/physical requirements... because I think it's off and I'm not sure they can decline me due to disabilities.(they say it requires alot of standing in the Lab... however when I did work experience in highschool I found I did a fair bit of sitting too)

/me notes on my language stuff... talking to a friend who got nearly identical scores in some test areas to me... I'm likely hyperlexic/savant.<shrug>
