One of the tools that the SCOTUS uses to interpret the Constitution is the doctrine of Legislative intent. It would be difficult to find that congress and the states did not intend to change prior language that is contradictory to a new amendment.

Most of the cases that come before the Supreme Court are of the "this clause gives me the right to do A, which conflicts with his right to do Bunder a different clause"
