Tech question: laptop LCD replacement by rorajoey 2006-11-19 12:55:59
Hi UFies. It's been a while since I posted anything, but I haven't forgotten about you. See, now that I'm running into problems again, I'm running back here to grovel at your feet and ask for forgiveness...or at least a little help. :)

I've inherited an old laptop computer from a friend of mine. He got rather angry with the machine and destroyed the LCD screen, but the computer itself still works if I plug in an external monitor (I'm installing Debian on it as I type this query). I've opened up the case and discovered that LCD module had this model number on it: LM-FB53-22NCK. A search for this number on Google.com yielded a hit on the Solar Technologies web site, which lists the following details pertinent to this LCD module:
Brand: Sanyo
Part Number: LM-FB53-22NCK
Size (in.): 11.30
LCD Type: DSTN
Resolution: 800X600 SVGA
Although Solar Technologies does offer data sheets, they were unable to offer one for this LCD panel, so I decided to go to the manufacturer. I sent Sanyo this information a couple days ago but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

Since this computer is rather old (it's a 133MHz Pentium w/32 MB RAM), I'm doubting whether this particular LCD is even manufactured any more, so I'm wondering if there's a way to locate a more modern replacement that I can just plug in to the old system. Here are some photos that may be of use.

Thanks in advance for your help.
