My personal views about religion and bigotry would probably be offensive to most religious folk.
But the fact of the matter is that you can ignore bigotry as a justification - nobody in their right (or Right) mind would try to use that as a reason for a law. Would anyone be dumb enough to say "I hate blacks, so we should pass a law making them illegal"?
Anyone in office, that is, who is not likely to get assassinated or killed by a rogue pretzel.
Anyway, those people - who may actually think that way - are usually "smart" enough to make the justifications something more palatable/convincing to the public. They think a lot of people are religious and will obey, er, agree with religious tenets. So they say, for example, that marriage is a holy union.
So no fags allowed!
Bastards.
Ahem, sorry. A bit personal there. BTW, did I mention that my Dad is going to attend a gay wedding? He he he. He was cracking wise about it, too, but I think he'll have fun at the office talking about it. |
