I used to be a devout Opera user, so I consider myself well-informed on both sides.
(1) Firefox is now capable of everything Opera is capable of with the notable exception of accessibility options. If you have someone with specific needs Opera can better help, they should use Opera. Beyond that though, Firefox can do it all - it saves sessions, it has even more customizeable mouse gestures, its tab management is great - and with extensions, it can do things Opera can't.
(2) Open-source. No money required, quick fixes for bugs and other issues from the community, *excellent* community via the forums.
(3) Fast. I find that Firefox 0.9.2 renders pages faster than anything else I've ever tried, Opera 7.5 included. Opera is faster at going back to a page it has already loaded, but on first load, Firefox beat it out on the machines I've tried. |
