DirectTV internet access by evilsysadmin2004-07-14 09:19:29
this may be late but... by scragman 2004-07-14 12:05:44
it costs about $400 to set up (at least thats what they told me last year, it might be less now) and when the satalite goes down, so does the internet (every time it snows, rains, something gets in the way, etc). Get him one of those cell phones with the available internet service deals. They look like they might be cheaper. In addition to the satalite internet, you must also have Direct TV. That alone will cost you $200 or so to start, and at least $29.99 per month (probably more) without the internet service. The internet service is (I believe) $49.99 per month. It's reliable when the weather is good, but when it's not, it sux. I've found my cell phone to be more reliable than my satalite (doesn't loose it's signal as often), so I would stick to that (that and you can't play games over satalite, the ping is too much).
