As an honest and upright citizen I really should point out these other offenders who were criminally negligent by using the word "shire" in their domain names: Exhibit A m'lud. Exhibit B m'lud. Exhibit C m'lud. Exhibit D m'lud. Exhibit E m'lud. Exhibit F m'lud. Exhibit G m'lud. Exhibit H m'lud. All taken from the first 4 pages of a Google on "warwickshire". And there are plenty more counties ending in "shire" in the UK. The second link down is particularly interesting. I wonder who is going to tell the lads 'n lasses of the Warwickshire constabulary that "The incorporation of the SHIRE name into a domain name by you is a misrepresentation to the public that the domain is connected to the Lord of the Rings books and/or films. In particular, the registration by you of the domain name constitutes a representation to persons who consult the Whois register that you are connected to or associated with the name registered and thus the owner of licensee of the goodwill in the name, which of course you are not." Pillocks!
