it would create an environment where a dialog may be opened. Not only would the protestors have the chance to peacefully explain their views to my hypothetical President, the President would have a chance to explain his to them. Then it is entirely possible both parties will meet again and share more information which in turn could create at the least an understanding, and at best a compromise that would meet both parties' desires.
