An informal poll: Gordie Howe hat trick by farfalla 2004-07-14 10:20:27
A question was raised in the office today - we're all starved for hockey, I guess, darn summertime - about whether the concept of a "Gordie Howe hat trick" is reasonably common knowledge or obscure hockey jargon. Our point of comparison was the baseball term "hitting for the cycle", which I was assured is common knowledge except that I'd never heard it.

Is it a Canadian/American thing? Or just a what-sport-do-you-follow thing?
