A few years ago down here in Miami this issue came up. Not with Human sacrifices, but animal sacrifices and Santeria. The First amendment protected their right much to the dismay of PETA and all the hippies out there who protested. Now its all but forgotten and the issue dropped.

That really /was/ about religion. Gay Marriage isn't. The whole debate is about what the definition of a marriage is. Florida (for all the follies that Democrats can't get over) has long ago stated the definition clearly as union between a man and a women. Yet there are certain communities within the state that have allowed same-sex unions.

My personal opinion, in the last 200+ years in the US, gay marriage wasnt this big of an issue, why is it now? If you can't get married you can't. If you can't paint your house yellow because of some neighborhood association, you can't. I think that's a more important issue than same sex marriages. Not to mention a direct opposition to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".
