| ...is that all of these self-professed Christians, when asked to defend their beliefs, will cite chapter-and-verse from the Bible -- but it's almost always from the Old Testament! I was always under the impression that Christians were supposed to be followers of Christ, meaning that the New Testament is the primary source for doctrine! If I recall correctly, the Old Testament also recommends that adultery should be punished by stoning...but whenever I bring this up in debate, I'm accused of "splitting hairs" (*snorts in disgust*)!
In my personal opinion -- and I say this as someone who was raised Christian (although in a rather liberal denomination) -- I truly believe that if Christ were to visit the United States today, it would surely break His heart... |
