while the statistics are not specific (and specifics would be useful for getting a sense of WHY those numbers are what they are), it's the magnitude of the numbers that is staggering.

US bases on foreign soil: well over three times the number of countries on the planet. Total number of foreign bases on US soil: one. (Unless someone has info that contradicts that found elsewhere in this thread.)

That alone is more than enough to justify the foreign impression that America has become (and is continuing to assert itself as) an imperialist power, which was the point of the TLP.

And, as I also mentioned to DR, what they think of us is more important, in this context, than what we think of us.
