| You do not have to put up with his behavior. Doing so just enables him to keep doing it, and puts you at risk for being hurt further. Many people do not realize that this goes for roommates, partners, spouses, and family members: It is OK to leave a situation that is bad for you. In fact, it's very reasonable to do so, and no one is ever going to say "oh, you should have toughed it out." Screw that-- this guy is taking no responsibility for his actions; an addict who is unwilling to do something about the problem is one who is not getting better, only worse. You are wise to get out of the situation before things escalate. |
