The dollar value I set seems so high in comparison to "workin' fo' da' man" at previous consulting jobs that I've had. It took some time to get used to that aspect of running my own biz. I also have the added wrinkle that I'm going after small-town small-business clients (which tends to avoid most of the baloney like this guy gave you). This makes setting prices a little tougher because your rate needs to pay enough to live off, make it seem like you are valuable, but not so expensive they are hesitant to call more frequently.
