Particularly the Broadjump (not Broadcom) drivers.
I've seen the software cause issues mostly with the Cisco 3.x and
4.x IPSec client.
I've also seen it cause basic IP connectivity issues such as you
describe. In all cases removing all the software removed the
issues.
If the workstation is XP, then the software on the SBC DSL CD is
completely unneeded. The CD installs a PPPoE adapter (included in XP), IRC client, search toolbar, not sure what else, and takes
the new user to a webpage to create their login name, password,
and signs user up to Yahoo mailing lists.
I can't recall the webpage at the moment, but I've been able to
call Yahoo-SBC support in the past and ask for the URL.
I've got SBC DSL at home and the only time I touched the CD was
to throw it in the trash.
