OpenBSD by sofaspud2004-07-12 10:07:34

to learn PF. PF is OpenBSD's packet filter firewall system, loosely based on ipfilter (but with some substantial improvements IMHO). It's hands-down my favorite firewall package. An incredible amount of power, an incredibly simple config syntax.

Can't really think of any other pointers off the top of my head; OpenBSD is my first choice for any kind of router, firewall, or other network infrastructure server (I'd run NIS, BIND, etc. on it if I had the need for those tools), but I tend to use some other OS's on my other systems.

Yes... its installer is excellent. I can' think of any other OS I can install in under 10 minutes (not including package download time). Except maybe Slackware, but that was a weird day...
