Don't let them call you, ask for a number you can call them on instead. If they insist on calling, simply say it's because you want to make sure they are serious and it's not a prank. If they are serious they should accept that excuse. Then before you call you can look up who the number belongs to, if it is VH1 (make sure they give you their *office number*) then call them up and see if it was actually them who contacted you on IM.
This will make the prank fail, if it is a prank, even if they give you a "real" number. But as Kickstart said, I doubt they would use IMs to find interview people... E-mail, possibly, but I'm doubtful about IMs. |
