definition: slue by SnappingTurtle2006-11-19 12:55:59
Googling the variants by SnappingTurtle 2006-11-19 12:55:59
It appears that all three are in wide use:

The London Times uses slough and slew but not slue. "slough" is particularly popular for use in the phrase "slough of despond", refering to Pilgrim's Progress.

The Washington Post uses only slew.

So, it would appear to me that "slue" is, at best, a variant, while "slough" and "slew" are the main spellings, and "slew" being the favored spelling.

Opin away.
