| Ugh. A dilemma. |

A client just asked me to overwrite one of their web sites yet to be translated with another language for easier translation (and different structure). But as I can see from the log, they've already translated half of it. Now, it takes me no longer than minute to copy another language over it. But when they figure out that they'll have to start all over again it'll take me a few hours to restore their old things. On the other hand, I have specific instructions to overwrite it. But the problem is that I don't have it in writing.
So, do I play dumb and do as I was told and risk having to do some restoration work (I learned long ago never to delete anything from the database, so it's merely flagged as deleted)? Or do I play a good employee and spend half of an hour to copy only what's not yet translated.
Either way, there are only a few hours at most of work to do, but it is about principles and not the amount of work... |
