Joyce had a thriving commercial centre just up the hill on Kingsway. Patterson had Central Park, which was a pretty vital stop if the skytrain was going to be put in. The Edmonds bus loop was already in operation (apparently, I don't know this as first-hand fact) and land next to it was available (a rare commodity) for the skytrain repair area. KS
