So how much is my job worth? by MikeCDN2004-06-23 14:01:27
what i've learned about the bc job market by theother 2004-06-23 16:47:49
technically this only applies to the lower mainland from what i know

degrees and certifications are extremely important here. much more so than the other area i was in. if you do start looking it will be asked frequently or you just dont get call backs. if you have the time i'd pick up a cert or two.

the salary that you're getting is definitely low (I saw the 25K post). the best place to get salary ideas is not those salary caculators (though they're good for you to figure what your negotiating room is) but to find actual job posts. college and university sites post salary ranges the most often. their job postings are also fairly detailed.

if you decide to go to your boss i'd recommend bringing documentation with you that shows salaries with the job descriptions. And bring you're resume... sort of a resume. detail exactly what you do there now (similar to your post) and what your old job description said.

i dont think your current job description is jack of all trades. it's more like an admin or high level tech support with web skills. if you look at job postings your list is pretty consistent with those jobs.
