Portable DVD burners? by jayfarm2004-06-23 07:57:59
  I built my own by geekgrrl_ca 2006-11-19 12:55:59
I took a regular ide burner and put it in a usb2.0 case. the case was $40 canadian on ebay My partner and I received an ide dvd burner for christmas but there was one issue... we both have laptops and we were too lazy to hook up our desktop computer to use it. USB 1.1 was too slow but I had a pcmcia fire card I figured I could use. I looked hard for a firewire case for the dvd burner but just couldn't find one... and cause my laptop only has usb 1.1 I bought a pcmcia usb 2.0/firewire card for 4.64 USD on ebay as well. With windows XP the drivers are all native and I believe I only had to install the burning software. It's sweet. Now I need a second one for the hard drive in the PVR so we can download our recorded shows onto dvd or vcd.
