We mostly see fairly civilized debate, so one knows not only the frequent posters' general political stance, but also, e.g., on which topics NOLAwitch and DesertRat66 can chat along happily like the best of friends and on which topics they just get too hot under the collar to type straight. We know what kinds of rhetorical flair we can hope for from Naruki, but also that zie sometimes reaches for mere unadorned sarcasm. These and many more are whole people who bring their whole selves here, and we get to see them from many angles during all the debating.

I discovered the comment board last summer, when I was working a 3PM to 3AM shift on a high-intensity project. Reading you guys in the middle of the night was just what I needed to keep me from going crazy-- well, no, but to keep the insanity channeled into socially acceptable forms. I came to know many of your individual "voices" and want to go on watching you be yourselves. I post rarely enough myself that I am probably not a distinctive voice, and probably never will be, but I am happy to know that there are really such people out there.
