mod_perl or mod_php? (which is -your- favorite CGI by Pic 2004-06-23 07:38:38
language?</topic> Durn topic limit...

I have been doing quite a bit of mod_perl development recently, and I am now back to programming in mod_php, and I have to say that I by far prefer writing mod_perl handlers rather than php scripts. There are several reasons for this, but some of the more prominent ones are:
1) perl differentiates between some types. I am not all too fond of PHP's "nothing but variables" approach.
2) reference handling is much more gracious in perl than in PHP.
3) Functions always recieve their parameters as a list. You can choose your self whether you want your function to accept arguments as hashes or as arrays.

But what do you think of these two languages, which do you prefer and why?
And if you prefer yet another language for your CGI please tell me which one and why.
