This is scary ... (from the inbox) by ChuckAB 2004-06-23 07:21:46
This is part of the notice that our network folks send out to warn us (departmental technicians (like me) - not *everyone*):

Communities Affected:
All consolidated e-mail users

Systems/Service Affected:
All Exchange 2000 Servers

Impact:
No impact is expected per contact with Microsoft Engineers.  Yeah, right...

Executive Summary:
The E-mail enterprise is currently in what is called mixed mode. Basically this means that that we have Exchange 5.5 and Exchange 2000 servers in the enterprise. With the completion of the [last group] migration, we no longer require 5.5 servers in our enterprise. Going to native mode allows for additional optimization and greater availability of future technologies per Microsoft engineers. [Really?!?]

Reason:
Switchover is required to complete the assured information operations initiative.

Recovery Plan:
None. When the switchover is made, there is no going back.

Yep - no going back. - I thought we did that when the PTB (Powers That Be) decided that we were going to be an "All Microsoft Enterprise". Well, we'll see....
