But that happens to new technology that hasn't had a chance to be properly developed.

This new engine looks pretty good, but it's hard to compare it with a conventional engine.
The car itself weighs about the same as my Fiesta, and the engine is roughly the same size.

Comparing fuel economy, mine is considerably better:
34.9 mpg (best estimate), compared with 55 mpg (measured)

I'd want to see the specs for a car designed for normal use, rather than a sports car!
