In true UFie spirit of helping each other out (and, because I want a GMail account), I present..
The GMail Beta Invite Beggery Thread
Mods: if you don't want this thread, just mod it and I won't re-post it. The point of this thread is to give people the opportunity to ask for invites without harrassing the known-gmailers and without the AOL "me too!" stigma.
Got Google GMail invites to burn?
Consider looking in this thread and blessing a fellow UFie. Please use the following protocol to avoid duplicate invitations:
- Reply to the requester's post with an empty post with subject of "sent".
- Refresh the board and verify that 1) your post was posted and 2) you were the only respondent. If someone else beats you to it, try to work it out between yourselves. Or, reply to your own post with subject "n/m" and then pick a different recipient.
- Send the GMail invite to the e-mail address provided by the requester.
Want a GMail account?
Feel free to ask, but please follow these rules:
- If you already have a GMail account, don't ask for a second. AFAIK, multiple GMail accounts is against GMail's TOS.
- Put the word "request" in your topic
- Put your e-mail address in the body of your message. It needs to be human-parsable.
- If you receive an invite, reply to the inviter's message to indicate success.
- Be polite. GMail is in beta, so invites are a limited quantity. Don't take it personally if you never get invited to the GMail beta.
