I've been meaning to say this in oot's other threads, but just never found the time (and don't have it now, actually ;-)

oot...
From everything I've read, you have led a *seriously* 'sheltered' life up until now (and not by your own choice). As SnappingTurtle mentioned, it's easy to get into a bad situation when you finally break free.

So, here's my suggestion, in a nutshell... try to apply the general 'rules' and attitudes found in *this* commentboard to the world 'outside'.

Understand that...
1) There is no hurry to experience everything 'right now'. Look carefully at the people you meet and the places you are and the situations you find yourself in.

2) Err on the side of caution or restraint if necessary. You may want to rebel against all the nonsense your parents have put you through, and that's natural. However, just because they're idiots in one direction doesn't mean you have to be an idiot in the other direction.

3) If you are unsure if a course of action is 'wise', assume it isn't. See #2.

4) Don't let yourself be led. You are going to be 18. You, in all likelihood, have another 70 years ahead of you. What seems important *now*, what needs to be dealt with *today*, usually doesn't. A day, a week, a month out of your 18 years of experience seems like a long time. Put it into perspective... when you look at it out of 85 years of life, it's not that huge a deal.

5) Take SnappingTurtle up on his offer if you feel you need to 'roam' a bit.

6) Follow the rule... WWDPD? (What Would Dust Puppy Do?)

That's all. Sorry that things have been so screwed up for you up 'til now, but if you don't let that skew you, you'll find that things will definitely improve.
