One would think that an ISP would know how to make by shorty82 2004-05-11 21:55:39
a webpage that works. I got in the mail today a letter from Bellsouth about upgrading to FastAccess DSL Xtreme, which is supposedly twice as fast as their DSL Ultra, my current connection.

When I try to go to the website given in the letter it won't even open in Firefox. Actually it probaly will, but I'm not waiting 10 minutes for it to open.

When I try to open it in IE it takes longer than it should for a simple page and it tells me it appears I have cookies blocked and that I should enable them. I have to lower my cookie security level from medium to low to look at the page. Why do they need to use cookies that use personally indentifiable information without my consent on a page where all you do is put in your telephone number?

Then it the next page seems like it will never open so I clear my cache and close the browser. I reopen the browser and now the first page won't even open. AAAAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!

I close out and try calling the number given in the letter. I get a computer telling me to call back, the office is closed. It closed at 11:30 Eastern time (1 hour ago). Every other number I have ever used to call them is 24 hours/7 days, why not this one? Of course they couldn't even put the hours the office is open on the letter, that would be the smart thing to do. I would of called earlier, but I was thinking that the number was staffed 24 hours a day. Looking over the letter again, one reason I thought it was 24 hours was this line: As always, you'll continue to get 24/7 live customer support, and you can talk to a help desk representative anytime-even when you're online. So visit us online or call us today to order your makeover-it only takes a few minutes.

I'm just trying to figure out whether or not it is worth upgrading my service. It is only a few dollars more a month, but I want more information first. I am generally happy with my service and the customer support is very helpful, it's just stupid stuff like making webpages that break evey load time rule I have ever heard that make me mad.

I'm thinking it would be a good idea to upgrade as there are three computers on my network and soon my brother will also have his PS2 on it. I just want some more information first! Aww well, I guess I'll have to call them tommorow. Shucks, and I was already to bi&#% nicely complain about how I can't get to their website.

Thanks for letting me rant, I feel much better now.
