...humans ought to be free. However, the natural state for human beings appears to be in some form of heirarchy, with a leader at the top and peons at the bottom. Peons will, by definition, have less freedom than all of the castes above them. I believe our most fundamental trait is insecurity. It's part of our animal nature, having a reptile brain and all. Heirarchies allow for the mitigation of said insecurity.
