Unfortunately, I just had a dark thought. I've heard of parents like these that drove their progeny nuts while at college by calling them every day - sometimes more than once a day - to "make sure they're all right" (read: extend their leash over the phone). I sure hope they don't do this to you. I walked to grade school from the first grade on because the school bus wouldn't pick up students that were less than a mile from school and having my parents drive me would have been embarrasing. I had a great deal of freedom while at home, but I didn't take much advantage of it as I was (still am?) pretty lazy. Like others have said, don't burn your bridges - it's very likely that you'll regret it. And as for financial freedom - don't marry into it just to get away from your parents - you WILL regret it. I've seen that happen way too many times.
