The more thankful I am that they let you have internet access so you don't go completely crazy. I'm sorry you can't go abroad this summer. Could someone in the school talk to your parents? I'm sure part of it is an overbearing parent thing, but is the money an issue too? Or does your scholarship cover that? If so, definitely have someone from school try to talk to them to explain the benefits of attending and how they will watch over you like hawks.
