My ancestory is by Celticess 2006-11-19 12:55:59
scottish, irish, and english... and if you go farther back also viking and flemmish(dutch). Actually a few generations back you start to see the viking names popup. But I've been told by those researching the tree on my dads side that we are primarily scottish and irish and british by having moved there and one famly marrying in that was part english.(hence my current lastname is considered english and my dad was born in england... tho his parents were from elsewhere in the UK) In my moms side I'm irish and english as far as I know. Nobody I think has dug too deep in part of the family tree.(well my moms moms tree)

Someone suggested to me the goddess Andraste(btw try this site for some info on diffrent deities and mythos) In my family there was something about birds. Particularly black birds. The superstitions on birds are taken very serious in my dads family. A bird flying into a home symbolizes someone will die in that home.(and my parents told me that happened and freaked out my grandma and someone did die later... coincidence? we aren't sure but it was weird) Song birds singing on a sill of a couple trying to concieve is believed to be a good luck thing or something.(they bring the souls) Ravens and blackbirds are creatues that go between worlds of the living and dead in the beliefs too and I think were kept as familiars for that or some other mystic quality.(my dads mom had a blackbird with a split tongue... ie it could speak. But the women in the family traditionally kept a bird. That grandma was of scottish decent close enough to the clan that I can wear her kilt by clan rules). I also found out that in a the region where my nana(grandma) came from ravens were part of the totem for there or something. And that is linked to that goddess just mentioned. My nana's family was from Aberdeen btw. Not sure if this helps... but thought I'd pass on the info incase you have any of the same unusual stuff passed on in the family.(re the birds and stuff) It might give you an idea of where to look in your quest to find your path.
