The commodities buyers complain that we don't involve them early enough in the parts selection stage and keep picking parts that are hard to get hold of. So when we have a choice of two different parts I ask my main contact there to look into them and decide which they would prefer me to specify. A few days later I chase them up and get the response "Oh I don't look after that sort of part, xxxx handles them so I did nothing." Apparently forwarding an email to the person sitting next to them isn't part of their job function.
