Life imprisonment, yes. But he can't be condemned to "life".
Nobody has a right to "reproductive destiny". You have sex, and if the conditions are right, you have a kid. It's simple biology.
But, people _do_ have certain rights (many of which are not explicitly stated) granted to them, and they are expected to respect the rights of others. Someone who doesn't do that - someone who violates the rights of others - can expect to have his rights lawfully abridged either permanently or temporarily by the State. This is only natural.
The man in question presumably (without details I can't judge) is violating many other people's rights (the unsupported children, the stupid women, and society). Thus, if for no other reason than to prevent _further_ abuses of others' rights, this action is reasonable.
What makes this really different is not some silly reproductive destiny claptrap - nobody is guaranteed the right to overpopulate the earth. It's the fact that the judge is causing a physical alteration to your body. And that precedent has already been set. |
