on top of a mountain in Malibu. If I understood the words, which were spoken in Thai by a UCLA professor friend of my husband, I think they'd be similar to what is said at a handfasting. If sailor boy and I tie the knot, it will be a handfasting. His mother won't have objections since we can't get married in church anyway because we're both divorced and I'm not Catholic.
I've been to some lavish handfastings that cost under $1,000 including clothes, food, flowers and music. Of course, the Pagan community here pitches in and does favors for each other. I've got loads of friends who are chefs who would do the food at cost. Another friend is a seamstress. Another friend does flowers. Why have a band when you can borrow another friends sound system and select your own music in advance? Also, we have a plethora of backyards and park settings as venues. |
